CONFERENCE SPEAKERS

AMY PEELER

Amy Peeler is the Kenneth T. Wessner Chair of Biblical Studies and Professor of New Testament at Wheaton College. She also serves as Associate Priest at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Geneva, IL. Author most recently of Hebrews: Commentaries for Christian Formation (Eerdmans, 2024) and Women and the Gender of God (Eerdmans, 2022) and editor of New Testament in Color (IVP, 2024), Dr. Peeler continues to research and speak on Hebrews and the relationships between men and women in Christian faith. Married to church musician Lance Peeler, Amy and Lance enjoy time with their three kids (16, 13, 10).

HABACUC DIAZ LOPEZ

Habacuc Diaz Lopez is the Latino Network Coordinator of the Baptist General Association of Virginia, Semillas de Mostaza Coordinator, and Pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista Maranatha in Culpeper, VA. Habacuc received his D.Min. from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. He is married to Ana L. Macias de Diaz and they have a son, Habacuc, and daughter Ana.  

STEVE COLLINS

Steve is married to Sandy Taylor Collins. They have one son (Jamie) and daughter in law (Mikella) and two grandchildren (Ava and Ethan) who are the joy of their lives. He has served as the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Nickelsville for the last 32+ years and also serves as the President of the Appalachian School of Theology and as Executive Director of the Southwest Virginia Partnership.

ROBERT STEPHENS

Robert is the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia. Through a Divine intervention, Robert stepped into his first ministerial position at the age of 19. He currently has two decades of pastoral experience utilizing his gifts of teaching, leadership, and discernment. These gifts provide him with the ability to help people walk in obedience with the redemptive work of God. Robert is passionate about personally sharing the good news of Christ with people and he believes that every Christ follower should be actively sharing this news with others as well.

Robert holds a B.S. in Animal Science from Tarleton State University, a Master of Divinity in Theology from Logsdon Seminary at Hardin Simmons University, and a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Studies from Liberty University. In addition, he currently serves as a Chaplain (MAJ) in the United States Army Reserves with the Office of the Chief of Chaplains working in the Proponency Assistant Directorate.

He and April were married in 2010 and they have three children, Allie (10), Kate (8), and Julia who is (6). They met in college and before starting a family, April was a veterinarian technician and dog trainer. The Stephens family enjoys RV traveling, visiting sights in our Nation’s Capital, family game nights and spending time together. They relocated from central Texas in 2023 to join the First Baptist family.

One of Robert’s favorite verses of scripture comes from Acts 20:24: “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”

BEN DISHNER

Ben Dishner is National Field Director of OneCry – a ministry which aims to inspire, resource, and mobilize the church to urgently pray for and passionately proclaim the hope of revival. Before joining the OneCry staff, Ben served as Worship Pastor as well as a wide variety of ministry leadership roles at churches in Tennessee and Kentucky for 25 years. He has a heart for revival and a desire to see the body of Christ united in mission with a wholehearted pursuit of Christ. He and his wife, Melissa, live in Knoxville, Tennessee and have two adult children – Andrew and Abigail.
